The ozone manages to stop most of this light, thus acting as a protector of the life on Earth.

While the stopping and burning of meteorites is not attributed to the ozone layer, it does actually play part in it, though only as part of the whole atmosphere. It is not a layer that has the leading role in this process, but only helps slightly in it.
