Ineed to write a paper on this! "personal field trip on sediment transportation. deserts and shorelines might seem inherently like opposites, but they have a number of similarities. the biggest of which is they are both environments of sediment transportation, although the transportation medium may be different (water vs. wind). go outside and find evidence of sediment transportation. no matter where you live, dirt is being moved. find it, photograph it, and blog about it. the size/scale/type of the sediment does not matter. your initial post should include the following bullets: what type/size of sediments are being deposited here? (sand, silt, clay, boulders, how about the sorting? would you expect the grains to be well sorted, poorly sorted? well rounded or angular? is this a high energy or low energy environment? did you notice sedimentary structures being formed (ripple marks, cross bedding, dunes, etc.) in this area? what type of sedimentary rock would be formed if this area were to immediately compact and cement into a rock? " i need a photo about ! somewhere in the world, preferably us plz!
