Seafloor spreading is driven by volcanic activity

It is caused by volcanic activity that create new crust. As the intrusive volcanism occurs undersea,the lava would fill the crack then cooling down to form new crust. The crust is then expanded and pushing the rest of the crust sideway causing seafloor spreading.
