How are the maquiladoras similar to sweatshops

Maquiladoras, like sweatshops, are factories in which workers are under-paid for the excessive amount of work they are being forced to do for over 8 hours a day. The clothing is made in excessive amounts and sold to other countries for more money, yet the money made still does not go into the workers paycheck.
