The main national goal for Eritrea after winning its independence was economic reconstruction.

Eritrea has been Ethiopian colony since World War II and it attained independence 1991 following the defeat of the Ethiopian government. After independence, the country rebuilt itself stimulating a positive financial growth. Most of the infrastructure abandoned during the battles were reconstructed and began providing public services.  

The country had water and electricity supply which was not present during the war. It also built school and agriculture increased four times. The country's GDP has grown over the years due to the increase of mining, industry, manufacturing agriculture, etc.
