When an author focuses on characterization in a piece of fiction it means that he or she provides destripa about the?

I'm not fully sure but if i were to put it in my own words i would say that if an author focuses on a characterization then there would be some important about the character and that he/she is allowing you to see things that characters way because when a author does characterization they might possibly bring in what the character is thinking about, and when you know what a character is thinking about it can help the reader with the theme in some cases.
