The reason why Prospero stops the show in The tempest act IV is:

This refers to a Shakespearean play which narrates the life of an ex D.uke who lives in an island with his only daughter Miranda and how he makes use of magic to control Caliban, a monster and Ariel, a magic being.

With this in mind, we can see that Prospero stops the show because he remembers that it is almost time to die at the hands of Caliban so he goes to make preparations.
