Why would victor frankenstein, rather than his creation, most likely be considered monstrous?

Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" is a gothic novel about a scientist's creation of a monster which turns against his creator and brings upon the death of many people. Victor Frankenstein, the protagonist and main character of the story, created the monster but then rejected him, thus bringing upon himself a lot of misfortunes.

Victor was a young scientist who made a monster out of his curiosity about the mechanism of life. But when the creature turns out to be a an abnormal looking being, he rejected him. Then, he thinks of destroying this very creature, which led to the murder and death of most of his loved ones. More than the created being, Victor can be labelled as more monstrous as he has the power to create life but also at the same time destroy it whenever he wants. This unjust use of this ability makes him more of a monster than his 'so-called' monster.
