Explain the relationship between exhaustion: sleep

Exhaustion refers to a mental or physical fatigue; so after a long day, one would be very exhausted and in order to replenish their bodies, rest or sleep would be needed to restore energy to the body.
In summary when one is exhausted, sleep is needed.
