When we are reading a text and we encounter a word whose meaning we don't know, we can look for context clues in the sentence or paragraph so we can make an inference about the word's meaning.

Inference refers to a conclusion or generalization that one makes after looking at the evidences or results of an investigation. In the same way, context clues are considered evidences or results of an investigation. They are neither subjective nor biased.
