What is the main idea of the story the "latehomecomer"

The Latehomecomer is about the Hmong's who helped the United States during the Vietnam War. When the United States withdrew though in 1975 the Hmong suffered from the aftermath such as their towns and villages being destroyed. The Hmong were basically forgotten about by the outside world.

Not sure if there was any sort of picture or something to go along with this but my guess is the book went into deep depth and was very informative.
