1. Read the text below and then follow the instructions Develop positive attitudes
We live in an environment where it is far easier to see the negative side of life. It is even
acceptable to make negative remarks about each other. How often do you hear someone
passing a positive comment or gossiping in a positive rather than in a negative, destructive
way? Make a point of saying something positive to everyone you speak to today. You would
be able to cope far more competently with all life's obstacles if you were more positive in your
thinking and in your way of life.
• Accept the fact that you yourself are responsible for your state of mind, your feelings,
attitude and behaviour. You can control them through your way of thinking. Don't
blame others for the way you feel or react.
•Learn to take decisions and to be accountable for the decisions you make. If you make
a mistake, learn from it. You seldom if ever repeat the same mistake.
•Accept yourself for what you are and who you are.
•Learn to take a risk. If you can take a risk you will be better prepared to cope with the
unforeseen.
•Be flexible and allow for change. Learn to accommodate those needs that arise as a
result of different circumstances and different situations.
•Self-interest and social interests are both important.
•Even though you are unique, you cannot reach your full potential without the help of
others around you.
•Learn to work as part of a team, encouraging not only your own interests but also the
interests of others.
