Hey i need help with this dbq ( pls leave suggestions on what I should fix) Tyranny is a cruel and absolute power in hands of one singular person like dictator or king, it is still possible to have tyranny of the few, when several generals or strong religious leaders seize control or tyranny of the many, when the majority turns down rights of the minority.
In the summer of 1787, fifty-five delegates representing twelve of the thirteen states
met in Philadelphia. They wanted to help fix the national government. Their problem was that the existing government was under the Articles of Confederation, it was very weak. The test was to create a strong central government without letting any one person or a group of people get too much power. The constitution guards against tyranny in 3 main ways, Federalism, Separation of Powers, Checks and Balances.
To begin with my first reason is that Federalism guarded against tyranny by first breaking apart distinct governments. Federalism guarded against tyranny by first dividing between two distinct governments. They were issued to each fractionalize among distinct and separate departments. Federalism gave all powers to the central government. Those people gave power to the states, and they shared powers together. among distinct and separate departments. ... Federalism gave powers to the central government. They gave powers to the states, and they shared powers together. In document A it states that States did things that affected themselves, and themselves only. It also states that State and Central government. Central and State governments will check each other's' power.
My second reason is the separation of powers guards against tyranny by making unilateral action by any branch more difficult through checks and balances. In document B it states that the separation of powers was achieved throughout the three branches of government, the legislative, executive, and judiciary. These three branches rule out any chance of tyranny by preventing any of the branches from taking over all the control on their own. For example the Executive has powers only within the presidency, The judiciary gets powers and orders from the Supreme Court, And the Legislature gets powers from the Congress. So forth the Constitution ensured none of these branches would gain anymore power. The Constitution assists the guards against tyranny by having a separation of power in range of the Constitution or using a system of checks and balances.
This leads me into my last and final statement, Checks and Balances. In document C it states that the president can appoint members of the Supreme Court. Checks and Balances are the way for the three branches to check up on each other to make sure that everything is going good. Another reason is that the Checks and Balances system provides each branch of government with singular powers to check the other branches and prevent any of the branches from becoming too powerful. This guards against tyranny by ensuring that no branch would take too much power.
In conclusion the Constitution Guard Against Tyranny essay was about 4 main writings . I chose 3 topics to do my DBQ on , federalism, separation of powers , and checks and balances. I learned alot from these 3 writings. I hope that you take away from this essay that 3 different things happened for the Constitution Guard Against Tyranny.
