A nonsense poem/verse, is a form literature that usually has strong rhythm and adding on to it rhyme. Its often tone is humorous and whimsical. The reason some people may write a nonsense poem is because they want you to take the time to consider the alternate reality created by its nonsensical verse, imaginative characters in amusing situations of fantasy, whimsical in tone and with a rhythmic appeal, often employing fanciful phrases and meaningless made-up words is something you may see in a nonsense poem.
