If your preference is Italian food then go to North Beach, or "Little, Italy." Here you will find the best Italian restaurants and wonderful ice cream. For some serious shopping, try Union Square. Many department stores are there. But it is a favourite with the tourists so watch out for the crowds. For more shopping, souvenirs, and entertainment, there is also Fisherman's Wharf the number one destination for visitors to the city. Many people say it is just a big tourist trap, and they are right. However, if you like seafood, Scoma's at the Wharf is the best place in the town to eat. San Francisco is a city where you do not need a car. You can walk or take public transportation everywhere, and there is no better way to learn about the city and its history than by taking a guide tour -good value at just $20. To escape from all noise and people, go to Golden Gate Park. This delightful park includes several great museums and miles of attractive paths to walk. lt has over one million trees and includes a Japanese tea garden.
