He was the ultimate master of the style of his age, as was Beethoven in the classical period, Brahms in the romantic period and Stravinsky in the 20th century.his music was satisfying for people.He was simply one of the greatest composers of his time. Was probably the finest organist of his time. He has left the greatest body of cantatas and organ works of any composer as well as many other fine works. He was probably the greatest exponent of counterpoint. Through his sons and other pupils he was a major influence on music to follow.
