Personality is the term that refers to the set of outstanding characteristics that a person has about their behavior and their way of acting. In other words personality refers to the individuality of every individual and the way he or she presents himself to the world.

Many scholars have discussed how personality is formed. Some of them believe that personality is created by genetic factors and that it is transmitted from parent to child, like any other characteristic in an organism. Others believe that personality is created through the environment in which an individual grows up and through the way that individual is raised and the experiences he or she has throughout life. There are still scientists who believe that personality is formed by the combination of these two factors, where each has an intense influence.

Although we are not able to assert that personality is completely formed by the environment around us, we do know that this environment is very important in determining our behavior in different situations. Mainly, because we know that our behavior changes over time, however, genetic elements are immutable which can make us disregard the impact of genetics on our personality.

Therefore, we can state that more research is needed on this subject, leading to more precise conclusions about how personality is formed and thus allowing us to understand ourselves more appropriately.
