Almost every English-speaking person uses acronyms and abbreviations in their everyday language, to make communication easier and faster between conversations.

Technology and social media has heavily developed the use of acronyms and abbreviations among people, as many people use acronyms while texting (for example, acronyms such as ‘OMG’ and ‘LOL’ are two of the most used in the English language online), to create a quicker method of typing. As well as this, companies and government officials use acronyms for their work (such as FAQ or MBA). Acronyms are also used generally too, for thing such as time, countries and organisations, which highlights just how common acronyms are in day-to-day life and in the English speaking world.
