Following instructions is important because sometimes we can get cocky and think we can do anything that is expected from us even without instructions. If we start to think this way, we will be confused later on and have a very difficult time with our work just because we didn't think instructions are important. It can damage our grades in school and it can also damage our daily life, if you have a hard time in a subject and you ignore the instructions for the assignment, you will regret not listening to the teacher and get 0%.
