The easiest thing you can do is to write him a test, but I believe that intelligent no only comes from academic performance, but from real life...things, if you know what I mean.

Ask him questions about things like society and stuff, and if he says stuff that sounds logical, than he is intelligent.

I feel like if someone tries to convince someone else that they are smart, they are just not smart, because you don't need to tell anyone you are intelligent, they can tell by how you act, and see that your hand is also rasied to answer the question or to ask questions. Many people have tried to convince me that they are smart, but I just also end up thinking they are extermyly d... by the way they act, and do stuff.
