In this activity, you will compare methods of direct and indirect characterization to analyze the character development in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian and “The Building.”
When you analyze a text, keep in mind how literary devices such as setting, imagery, theme, and plot affect characterization. Determine how each device impacts the character, and note where it occurs as well as any interesting language. Think about how the author uses the literary devices to reveal a character that is complex and believable.
