Cindy stared into the mirror. Was that really her face? Anne stood behind her, grinning proudly. "See?" sald Anne. "See how you look? Oooh- whool" she whooped.
Cindy saw, all right. Her hair was a huge cloud of fuzz, sprayed with colors and glitter. Her eyes were enormous, with thick black outlines
Anne had drawn. Green and white and pink eye shadow glowed on her eyelids. Thick gobs of black mascara stuck to her eyelashes. Round red
spots stood out on her cheekbones, and her lips were frosted purple. She was afraid to smile or talk. She might crack the paint job.
Finally she croaked, "My mother would kill mel Are you sure we can wash all this off? I have to look normal by the time she gets home."
"Yeah, but you look greatl" Anne was still hopping around admiring her work. "Let's leave it on and show her."
"No!" Cindy almost shouted. Just then they heard Cindy's brother Matt coming home.
"Hey Matt," yelled Anne. "Come see your gorgeous sistert"
"No, no, no," Cindy pleaded. "Don't let anybody see me.
"Right in here, Matt;" called Anne. "Here she is, your sister, the rock star!"
