The neoclassical period was the period that coincided within the 18th century and continued till the 19th century and was a period of enlightenment.

Neoclassical literature was written between 1660 and 1798. This time period is broken down into three parts: the Restoration period, the Augustan period, and the Age of Johnson. Writers of the Neoclassical period tried to imitate the style of the Romans and Greeks.

One of the most famous poets of that time was John Dryden who had written a lot of poems and the style he used to write poem was romance, satire, doctrinal poems and fables. Some of his poems were Alexander's feast, Absalom and Acitophel and so on.
