I'm reading that the Maya civilization's downfall came from overpopulation, warefare between city-states, and drought. These can teach us many lessons. War, both phsyical and political, is very prevalent in today's society. We can take the lessons from the Maya civilization and infer that war of any kind—unless 100% needed— is bad for a civilization. Overpopulation was also a problem in the Maya civilization, and we can solve this in our modern society by promoting family planning, teaching sex-ed thouroughly, and giving people more access to reproductive health services. Lastly, we can learn from the droughts of the Maya civilization and fix it by advancing under-developed societies that are dealing with it.
