The event was hosted by Baptist Health of South Florida and Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition to Youth (FLIPANY). Baptist Health hosted a 6-month series event called My Optimal Wellness, through their Nutrition and Community Wellness department, Family Cooking Night was the last event of the series. It took place at a local YMCA in the Weston area, it was free of charge and opened to YMCA members and non-members. The purpose of this event was to help inspire families to prepare nutritious and tasty meals that were quick and simple to prepare. She showed the My Plate and explained how one can incorporate all the food groups into one meal. In order to get the audience’s participation, she asked what popular food do their kids usually ask for and how can they fit the food groups into that specific food. The popular food among their children was pizza. Using the My Plate together we provided different ideas on how to make a pizza healthier by using whole-grain flour for the dough and using low-fat cheese. The lecture was about 20 minutes long and was followed by the demonstration part with Chef Jennifer Da Silva where she demonstrates a recipe that incorporated the food groups discussed. The recipe she prepared was called “Festive Hearty Salad” she explained each ingredient that was going into the salad; the name, how it’s best prepared and proper storage. Participants were also encouraged to ask her questions as she was preparing the dish, one of the questions asked was how the dish can be modified for vegetarian or kosher she gave tips on how one can change the dish to accommodate to their specific diet. for its purpose, while dee appreciates it for being “her heritage”.   the quilt represents family heritage. it was

believed that only dedication and years of hard work can represent a  quilt. 

mama decided to give

the quilts to her less fortunate daughter, maggie because she believed that dee

could not hold the true meaning of their family heritage and   that she would not use the quilts for their

purpose. however, dee believed that maggie can’t appreciate the quilts just as

how she sees them, and she thought that the quilt will be put to “everyday use”

by maggie and within 5 years or so, the quilt will turn into a rag. in the story, dee strongly believed that maggie do not deserve the quilts.

nobody can deny that cars are the most used means of transport all over the world. however owing a car could have some disadvantages. first of all, having a car on your own allows you to go everywhere without depending on timetables. moreover, you can use it whenever you need it no matter the time or the climate conditions. furthermore, if you have a car, you would not have to wait for nobody to share it when going to somewhere. nevertheless, one major disadvantages of owing a car is the fact that fuel is very expensive nowadays so that not everyone can afford it. in addition, you have to pay insurance to be protected by legal conditions. apart from this, the person who owns a car always has to maintain the car and repair any mechanical problem which could costs a huge amount of money. what is more, if you have to travel long distances, and you do not like driving, one probably would be exhausted and irritated due to driving for a long time. besides, cars cause environmental pollution. to sum up, owing a car means that you have more freedom to travel whenever and wherever people want to, however the car maintenance could be a very expensive issue that can have bad consequences at your economy.
