Epic narratives were important to ancient cultures because it kept their history alive and it will preserve the knowledge of their heroes, legends and bands. With the help of these knowledge, they can preserve, reinforce and promulgate their culture. The epic narratives usually depict the culture of the ancient people. In that way their culture will be passed from one generation to another through narrating the epics and legends of their culture. This also serves as their entertainment. Many people would band together to witness the live recitals and readings of these epic narrative stories. Poets and bards can make a good living out of this form of art and at the same time they can preserve their culture
