In 'a worn path' by eudora welty, what does the doctor require of phoenix to get the soothing medicine?

The doctor requires Phoenix to make the journey to get the medicine.  In the plot of "A Worn Path," there is an old woman called Phoenix Jackson who needs to walk through the woods into town to het a medicine for her grandson. Hpwever, on her way she has to face many obstacles.
