In Act V, scene I of Romeo and Juliet, Balthasar  informs Romeo of the sudden death of Juliet, which had not really happened. Frustrated at such news, Romeo decides to buy the apothecary of the city an effective poison, before going to the crypt where Juliet is. Upon arriving, he meets Paris, who moments before had been crying over the "inert body" of his beloved. Believing that Romeo is a looter of tombs, the count confronts him, but he is killed by Romeo, but not before telling him that his body must be placed with Juliet's corpse. Still convinced that his beloved is dead, Romeo proceeds to drink the poison to die beside her. Upon awakening from the induced coma, Julieta meets Romeo and Paris's corpses in the crypt; Fray Lorenzo asks Julieta to flee, but she refuses, unable to find a solution to such circumstances, determines to pierce the heart with the dagger of her husband, dying embracing her beloved. Some time later, the Montagues and the Capulets, accompanied by the prince, notice the death of the young men and the count. Absorbed by the tragic scene, Fray Lorenzo begins to tell the full story of "forbidden love" between Romeo and Juliet. His revelation manages to end the rivalry between both families and Mr. Montague and Mr. Capulet are determined to build a golden statue of both.
