Brutus was really a betrayer, cloacked in a disguise of patriot, because he decided to take matters into his own hands and kill Caesar in cold blood when he was trusted. Brutus betrayed all those who had trusted in him, friends and foes alike, and used his social position and closeness to Caesar to be able to end what he thought was tyranny.

However, it is also important to note three things about Brutus. The first is that the intentions that led Brutus to decide to kill Caesar were all good. He believed truly that letting Caesar continue as he was, went against the very principles on which Rome was founded.

Brutus defended the principles of Rome, even when he faced the danger of being shunned by his people and being killed for his defense of those priniples.

Caesar had been growing politically and militarily in Rome and outside, and he became a true danger for the principles on which Rome was founded. Those who were patriots, who believed in these principles, took on the task of ending the danger; Brutus was one of those people.

the pronoun reference replaces a noun, but you have to make sure there's no room for confusion.

in the second sentence "it" could be referring to the roof or the floor. the answer there is "since the roof leaks on the family room floor, we need to repair the roof."
