The encounter of the witches with Macbeth is what kindles the conflict  of the story. The fact that the weird sisters greet Macbeth as a king, sets in motion his desire to do whatever it takes to become the king. Apart from that, the prophecy about Banquo (his sons will be kings) will influence Mabeth's plans to try to murder him and his son. Therefore, the porpose of this event is to set in motion the main conflict of the story.

If the three weird sisters wouldn't have given any prophecy to  Macbeth and Banquo, they would still be soldiers fighting for King Duncan until he dies, after that, maybe Macbeth could have been chosen as the king, since he was respected by the people of Scotland. In the second scene of Act 1, he is introduced as a very honorable soldier, if not the saviour of Scotland: "But all's  too weak, for brave Macbeth -well he deserves that name-" (Act 1, Scene 2, Line 16). If Macbeth would have let things happen on its own, maybe he could have become the king without murdering the king himself.

malvolio only loves olivia because he thinks if they get married to olivia he will have a noble title, people to serve him, and fine clothes to wear. also he thinks if they get married he will have many expensive things, and he thinks he will be able to order toby around. malvolio only wants to be noble and boss people around he dose not really love olivia. but viola love for duke orsino is real she really loves orsino.

i think he will fail because he tried to get her to love him and she said oh, you are sick of self-love, malvolio. there is no slander in an allowed fool. so i think she knows what malvolio is trying to do. she knows that he only wants to marry her because he wants to be noble and boss people around so that it why i think she said oh, you are sick of self-love, malvolio. there is no slander in an allowed fool because she new he was selfish.
