Discussion Topic In this unit, you have been exploring how identity is expressed in different types of writing:
literature, poetry, and informational text. A person's identity is made up of qualities and
beliefs that make him or her unique. Sometimes, a person knows exactly who he or she
is as a person. Other times, a person's sense of identity may take time to develop.
Do you feel as though you have a fully developed sense of identity? If not, how do you
think you will develop your identity over time? What are some positive aspects of having
a strong identity? Are there any negative effects of having a strong identity?
