The Vietnam had a major impact on literacy in America. It had a negative affect because it divided America and divided the leaders. By this dividing, uncertainty was rapid pertaining to plans for foreign policy. Literary writers were constantly against the war and against the people in the United States that supported the war. This was the nation's longest war so it had to be dreadful for literary writers to write about the same thing for years. Also the Vietnam War damaged the United States economy severely, so of course literary writers were angry and it showed in their work. However, it also had a positive affect on many literary writers. As it gave them lots of topics and information to write about. Also by writing about the Vietnam War, writers were able to gain publicity
