1.1 A relationship is a connection that exists between groups of people that interact.  Relationships can either build you up or bring you down.  Positive relationships provide stability, companionship, good advice, and loyalty.

1.2 Toxic relationships can involve envy, anger, stress, and discouragement.  

1.3 Positive relationships in a family can assist you to achieve academically.  Functioning families teach respect, commitment, effective communication, and positive social relationships.  All of these points can be attributed to an academic setting to help you succeed.

1.4 Mutual respect in a relationship can help sustain a positive relationship.  by showing respect, you are showing them that you care about them and letting them know that they are important to you.  You can achieve mutual respect by making meaningful connections and being considerate of each other's opinions and feelings.
