passage:
In the United States, plants change depending on where they are located. Plants in the northern states must survive harsh, cold winters. These plants tend to lose their leaves and go dormant in the winter in order to use less energy. That way, when spring comes around, they are able to grow and thrive again. Plants in the southern states will go through changes, too, although they are not as noticeable. Plants grow less, and leaves might change colors. However, their leaves do not normally drop off. Plants in the southern states experience a significantly longer growing season compared to the ones in northern states. This is because of the warmer temperatures, increased precipitation, and longer periods of sun. Ultimately, plants adapt to seasonal changes due to where they are located
Which piece of evidence best supports the author's point that how a plant changes seasonally depends on where it is located?
