Below is a vivid description of a high school. Choose a subject of your own, such as a library, a ball field, a restaurant, or any place you have observed closely, and write a two-paragraph description of at least one hundred and fifty words that
imitates the passage below. You must match its sentence structure, parallels, figures of speech, and other content with
suitable constructions of your own
The school is full of strange, clamorous sounds. Somewhere down the hall, behind closed doors, freshmen
gossip incessantly. Their voices are thin, bored, and faintly exasperated, like the voices of restless office
teachers standing next to the copying machine. Now and then, an administrator's announcement, loud,
grating, full of tension and grief, cut through the students' incessant gossip. Something else shimmers
through the corridor, a confident striding and marching around, anciently familiar and vaguely disquieting
seniors are nearby.
They are actually nearby in great numbers in the large auditorium. These are smart seniors, sophisticated
seniors, tough and intelligent and immaculate, on trend in fashion and remarkably incisive of thought. AP
English classes have transformed them so they bear little resemblance to the immature freshmen they once
were. These dynamic seniors have rarely seen a cafeteria, a detention hall, or a littered gym; they have never
run from assistant principals, nor stayed up all night through the wee hours of the morning. Yet they still
make, in their clear and sophisticated senior way, the ageless sound graduating seniors have always made.

Highlight all instances of parallel structure. there is no longer any room for hope. if we wish to be free—if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending—if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained—we must fight!
