Baby Easton was born on July 25th 2013. Easton’s parents, Bill and Rhonda have recently been told by several family members that something might be developmentally off with Easton. Bill and Rhonda begin observing other babies Easton’s age while they are out and about. While observing other babies they start to note the things that might be a little off about Easton. Below is the list of things they have come up with that makes Easton a bit different than other babies his age:
● Easton has a flatter face, smaller ears and a shorter neck than most babies his age
● Easton has small white spots on the blue area of his eyes
● Easton consistently seems to have stomach problems
● Easton does not have much muscle strength when holding his own head up
1. When Bill and Rhonda visited their local pediatrician he diagnosed Easton with?
2. What does the CDC define this birth defect as?
3. What sort of treatment options are available?
4. Could this have been prevented? Explain.
