Explanation:

1. She finds herself attracted to Dally, who is crass and unrefined but also charismatic. Despite all her attraction to the greasers, moreover, she is not completely free of group prejudice.

2. Cherry acts as a spy for the greasers, and in doing so wants not only to help the greasers, but the Socs as well. She wants the fighting to end, and she does whatever is necessary to even the sides and balance the power between the two rival groups.

3.  She is not filled with hatred or a sense of superiority; instead, her nature is sensitive, understanding, and peaceful. Cherry can't leave her group, but she likes and trusts Pony, even though he is a Greaser.
