As an exercise, let’s imagine you are in the same situation as Al Pacino’s character in Any Given Sunday. You are the coach of a team who are doing terribly. They have no motivation and don’t seem to care about the game anymore. Without copying the Any Given Sunday speech, how might you structure a motivational speech? As a starting point, let’s consider what you want the end result to be and how you might lead your audience to it. In this case, the end result is motivation. Now, what emotional states might make a person feel motivated? Pride? Determination? Fear of failure? Embarrassment? What examples might you give to invoke these emotional states? Work backwards, and create a plan for a speech designed to motivate your team. Then write the speech in around 300 words.
