Choosing one of the quotations from the slideshow in the project, consider this idea of freedom/liberty in relation to one or more of the themes in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Write a persuasive essay of at least 750 words based on this topic, beginning with the statement you have chosen as a central idea, and associate themes, details, and examples from the book. In addition to using The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as a source to support your thesis, find an additional source of support from outside research. You may use another piece of literature, newspapers, periodicals, or websites. Also, in your research, find a source with an idea that is counter to your ideas, and address this counterargument. Your essay should include the following: a clearly stated position, supported with evidence from all sources (you should use a minimum of three sources total, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, an additional supporting source, and a source that serves as a counterargument to your main idea)
balanced use of rhetorical strategies
varied syntax, focusing on readability and flow
transitions between sentences and paragraphs to logically link ideas
a concluding paragraph that supports your argument
properly formatted in-text citations and a works cited page, according to MLA guildelines
Remember to edit and revise your essay for spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Refer back to the rubric provided in the project to evaluate your final draft before submitting it.
