Read the excerpt from Get On Out of Here, Philip Hall written by Bette Greene. “HALT!” shouted a voice with unquestionable authority. Then there was a crack of gunfire. Sheriff Miller rushed to the middle of the street to wave back one of the runners. It was Bonnie. Why? Confused, she stood for long moments in the middle of Main Street watching Jordan Jones zip around the first corner. Then at last she obeyed the sheriff’s command to return to the starting line.
