Explanation:

a little girl walked down a street and finds a bike. decided to go on it and it starts fizzing. she notices something is on fire, but still keeps pedalling. all of a sudden, she gets propelled into the air and the bike explodes, ripping parts of her body off. In the hospital, the owner of that bike (a shady looking man) comes to visit and laughs. he heads off and the police arrest him. the little kid screams...

in my opinion i think it was not excessive at all. the maids turned against the queen in his absence, how could he ever trust them again? if he let them go they would surely spread the news of the suitor's deaths, which is much too risky. as for the suitors, they were selfish, rude, and greedy. the god's had apparently marked them for death, meaning odysseus made their death come faster.
