How do you tell if something is a metaphor not an simile

Well, similes is a comparison between two things using like or as, but in the other hand metaphors are a comparison between two things without using like or as

You can tell because a metaphor does "not " use like or as when making a comparison between two objects. On the other hand , a simile does uses the terms like or as when making a comparison . Example of simile : Her eyes were as blue as the clouds in the sky. That is a simile because you are comparing her eyes using like to the sky. On the other hand, a metaphor example is : all the world's a stage is a metaphor because you are not using like or as and is comparing the world to a stage . Hoped that helped !! :)
