Reread this part of the story. Which detail tells the MOST important thing that happens to Habib?
The bear throws the branch
down.
A fly lands on Habib's nose.
No sooner had Habib dozed off than a fly came
buzzing around his face. The bear, quickly brushed
it away, but it circled back and landed on Habib's
forehead. This time the bear swished wildly with
the branch. The fly darted away in a frenzy, but
seconds later, it came back. The fly landed right on
Habib's nose
Now in a rage, the bear threw down the branch. He
yanked a stone-hard fig from the tree and hurled it
at the fly.
The bear missed the fly, but not Habib's nose.
Habib awoke with a yelp and, of course, lost no
more time in sending the bear away. Then he took
up his basket and set to work picking figs, glad to
be rid of his "helper."
Habib gets hit in the nose with a
fig.

branch

Read the following passage: he roamed from chamber to chamber with hurried, unequal, and objectless step. the pallor of his countenance had assumed, if possible, a more ghastly hue— but the luminousness of his eye had utterly gone out. the once occasional huskiness of his tone was heard no more; and a tremulous quaver, as if of extreme terror, habitually characterized his utterance. there were times, indeed, when i thought his unceasingly agitated mind was laboring with some oppressive secret, to divulge which he struggled for the necessary courage. which of the above ideas might be considered foreshadowing? he is wandering all over the chamber his skin tone is really pale his voice is quivering the narrator thinks he is laboring with an oppressive secret
