This project provides the opportunity for you to write three paragraphs, one for each of the topic descriptions given below. Because you will be writing for different purposes (to inform, to entertain) you will need to pay close attention to the major differences between each type of paragraph. Return to the lesson "Paragraph Structure” to review these differences.
1. In a short expository paragraph (4-8 sentences), introduce and discuss three questionable persuasive tactics that authors use in making arguments. If you need to review the information on persuasive tactics, see the lesson “Analyzing an Author's Credentials/Argument.” Make sure that your paragraph has a clear topic sentence and a concluding sentence. Use correct grammar and punctuation.
2. Write a short narrative paragraph about the day someone made your bed with you still in it. Remember that you are telling a story. Use correct grammar and punctuation.
3. Write a short paragraph in which you describe what your room looked like after it mysteriously cleaned itself up. Pay attention to using words that help the reader "see" the room. Unify the description around a single theme or impression you wish to create for the reader. Use correct grammar and punctuation.
Write your three paragraphs ensuring that each follows the correct guidelines for the specific paragraph type. Use correct grammar and punctuation.
