2. When the narrator demands that raven answers his questions—"Is there balm in Gilead?" and
will I ever "clasp" Lenore again—he knows the answer will be "Nevermore"; so why does he
craft the questions in this way? Has he gained insight, come to some manner of conclusion,
given up? To what extent is the narrator to blame for "linking fancy onto fancy." trying to guess
what a personified bird is talking about (what he "[means) in croaking Nevermore")?
