2. Democracy may be temporarily delayed but not permanently defeated. although the events leading up to the inauguration were marred with unrest, democracy finally came off victorious.

3. The present generation owes it to the next generation to leave a better nation that is marked with love.

She recognized the struggles of their founding fathers who fought for a revolution and reminded the present generation of citizens that they owed it to their children to leave a better nation. She also remarked that even though democracy may be "periodically delayed", it would not be "permanently denied".
