Read this excerpt from "The Piñata."
The paste cracked and flaked on my arms and hands
from the heat of the garage. The old man pulled a small
pocket knife from his back pocket. He cut open the jugs
and taped the balloons to them to make a piñata form.
He looked at me once more, and I knew what to do
next. I returned to the bucket full of paste and handed
him strip after sticky strip.
Why does the author include this imagery?
