Kathy was ecstatic as she told me that she had encounter(e)d the "perfect man", as she called him. She insisted he didn't have a single defect. But I was dubious right from the start. Another was addicted to sausages. He ate sausages for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. His strange eating habits alienated me and our relationship quickly evolv(e)d from bad to "wurst". Then there were all those fellows who couldn't quite tell the truth. They disclosed so many fictitious details about their lives that they should have been novelists. To cite a few examples, they told me they were in college (they weren't), they had jobs (they didn't), and they had gotten perfect scores in their SATs (they hadn't). So you can see why I'm apprehensive about encouraging Kathy, who is so gullible that she believes everything anyone says. I can't wait to meet Mr. Perfect. He's probably a liar or a lunatic. And I'm not sure which is worse.
