Goddess
For the last few years, my mother wouldnât let me and my sister (Roxanna) out of the house. Â She wouldnât even let me go to school to visit my friends. At that time, I was in 4th grade when my father was found dead in a forest full of secrets. Â From that day on, my mother changed from a joyful woman to a worried and anxious person. I was too young to understand the situation, but since Roxanna was older, she seemed to understand what happened. Roxanna refused to tell me what happened. Mother said every time she went out to buy groceries, âDonât go outside or even show yourself. If you do, you will regret it.â
Our birthday rolled around and Roxanna turned 18. Roxanna received a new phone for her birthday! The day Roxanna turned 18, something fishy started happening. She kept hiding her hand away from me. I noticed a change in her face that identified that she was determined to do something, but I didnât know what happened. I was determined to find out, so I took my motherâs phone and went on Woogle. I was surprised I even knew what a phone was! Everything looked different to me.
Eventually, I searched up âWhat happens to your hand when you turn 18?â The results were surprising: âEvery time someone turns 18, a symbol on their hand slowly appears which tells them a secret that their parents only know when their child is born. Yellow means neutral; red means uncommon; green means unique; blue means special; purple and silver are undefined. The world website said that purple and silver were only shown once each. Scientists think purple defines one of a kind and silver means god. Whoever has a silver mark is the chosen one. For over 1000 years, scientists are trying to locate the chosen family with, most estimated, two gods/silvers and two purples.â
I had a mission. I was going to figure out what color my sisterâs mark is. At night while my sister was sleeping, I shined the light from a flashlight onto her hand. Her mark was purple! After I visited my sisterâs room, I went to my motherâs room and her hand showed silver! That meant that our family was most likely the chosen one. I thought, âIs that why we are hiding from others?â Â
The next day, I confessed to my mother and sister. Mother hesitated for a second and said, âIâm pretty sure we arenât the chosen family because your father was a yellow, born in a small village.â I knew she was lying, but I couldnât do anything about so I remained silent and played along with the act. Â
5 years later
âMother, can I please go to school? I havenât learned anything during the past 5 years! All I know is that I can talk, but I canât write,â I said. âRoxanna is 23 and she gets to go out now! Roxanna just colors her purple dot over with green so sheâs ordinary! Nobody can tell and nobody will know. Can I at least learn my fundamentals so I have a better future?â I exclaimed.  âIâll think about it Chloe, for now, we will remain in this house,â said Mother. âWhat are you keeping away from me? I just want to have a normal lifeâŚâ I said. Â
*2 days later*
âIâve finally decided that you could go to school. Remember to keep your hand a secret. You will ride a bus there starting tomorrow. Your homeroom teacher is named Ms. Katrina. Here are your schedule and map of the school.â explained Mother. Â I shouted, âThanks, Mom!â One day passed, and it was the first day of school. I was so excited! âOkay, first class is science with Ms. Ma- ka-chi-no; I think thatâs how you say her name,â I thought.
âLadies and Gentlemen! We have a new student in our class today! Please introduce yourself!â said Ms. Makachino. I said, âHello! My name is Chloe. I was homeschooled for a few years and I would really appreciate it if someone could show me around the school. Thank you!â âIâm going to need 3 people because this place is big and also because she hasnât had any experience with friends. Hm⌠how about Whitney, Janice, and Alice,â said Ms. Makachino.
After the class was over, Alice, Whitney, and Janice showed me around the school. Each of their personalities was different; Janice was calm and quiet; Whitney is funny and full of puns; Alice is a confident and smart girl usually sitting at the front of the class. âHey Chloe, do you know your hand mark symbol yet? My grandpa told me in secret! Iâm going to be a red mark. I believe that the only colors are yellow, red, and green.â said Whitney. âI guessed my color mark and Iâm 90% sure itâs that color. I also think that there are other color marks like blue, purple, or silver.â I said. âIf there are other color marks, they must be powerful because my parents have a green mark on their hands. They own a large company! Letâs go to lunch now, I call the middle seat!â said Janice. âAw, I wanted that! How about Chloe can sit there!â said Whitney.
