Use the information and the pie chart to answer the question. A science class has planted 10 milkweed plants and is charting their growth for a 6-month project. Half the plants have been placed in
sunny windows, and half have been placed on the floor where it is shady.
The students' hypothesis is that the plants grown in the sun will grow taller and will also produce more leaves than the plants grown in the
shade. The students have been measuring the plants and counting their leaves each week. They have created this ple chartto display their results
and help them determine whether their hypothesis is correct.
Growth of Plants Placed in Sun
4%
How useful is this chart for proving or disproving the students' hypothesis?
1. It is very useful because it clearly shows how many plants increased in height and how much they grew overall,
2. It is somewhat useful because it uses percentages to show how many plants increased in size from the beginning of the project until
the end, but it does not show leaf counts.
3. It is not very useful because it shows general growth for plants placed in the Sun, but it does not contain information for plants
grown in shade or information about the number of leaves
14. It is not useful at all because it lacks information about when the greatest amount of growth occurred and how often the plants were
watered
